(author remains un-named here, because this kind of blind sickness is not unique to the author, it is endemic in our world today)

First, let me thank the author for creating this poem that gave me the opportunity to again expose such flaws in the popular liberal mindset,

and to blow off my resultant totally justified steam with a well thought-out researched but resultantly wildly ranting response here.

in the urine of the haves
toxic clouds build over
cement mountain ranges
with smokestack peaks
spewing poison
and infected information
acid rain,fried baby's,melting icecaps,
poisoned rivers,tag-team hurricanes
famine,poverty,illegal love,[because
its not his kind of love] bombs for
Israel,nukes for Korea,rain forests
disappear.All unnoticed
but we never miss a football score
or a madmans speech
blind men march to the tune
of a monster
while the sighted are silenced

some of us had eyes to see
tried to stop it
communes and homesteads
against tyrants and greed
love against lust
we had no chance,the sighted ones
the blind allowed us no voices
even now so few see the demons
breathing fire on mothers tender skin
I envy the blind their absence of sorrow
  it is a sad burden
      to be sighted
          in a blind world

         

         

         

Now as a work of art it is a great poem for its emotion and imagry. After reading it my first impression was, “Hey, this is a powerful piece, somewhat naïve, but powerful!”

There are a few grammatical errors, but no matter in art. The poem is a good representation of the tragic mindset of many people who only encounter politics from the fringe, and only grab bits and pieces from whatever source happens to be near.

         

It is not as a work of art that I take issue with it here, but with what the imagery is erroneously implying, the blindness behind it, and the social sickness that gave birth to it.

 

So the poem gets read, the images are taken in, believed, and unfortunately most readers stop there and don’t put on their critical thinking caps
